There’s more out there than listed here so google “wildland fire classes” + “your state” or “near me” to find more opportunities. Check out community colleges in the West and it’s also common for structure fire departments that also deal with wildfires to offer wildland fire classes so that’s another good place to reach out to if you’re not finding anything.

ARIZONA
Arizona Wildfire & Incident Management Academy Sessions for entry level fire school (S-130/190 Basic Firefighter) in March 2026 in Prescott, Arizona, as well as RT-130 sessions.
COLORADO
BoCoFire Boulder County Fire Academy in Boulder, Colorado, puts on an entry level fire school (S-130/190 Basic Firefighter) in May 2026 as well as many other entry level classes (S-112 Introduction to Chainsaw Operations, S-270 Basic Air Operations and S-271 Helicopter Crewmember) and weekly RT-130 Fireline Refreshers in March-May and weekly Pack Tests in May.
Colorado Fire Camp Tons of year round entry level academy sessions (S-130/190 Basic Firefighter, L-180 Human Factors on the Fireline) in Salida, Colorado, as well as upper level classes year round.
CALIFORNIA
Yosemite Adult School FREE entry level fire school (S-130/190 Basic Firefighter) offered in February, April and June 2026 in Oakhurst, California. Super rare to find free fire schools! Treasure Valley Community College (TVCC) Offers S-130/S-190 Basic Firefighter, including I-100 and L-180, in February and April 2026 in Ontario, Oregon.
Willamette Ignitions Network Puts on entry level fire school (S-130/190 Basic Firefighter) in March 2026 in Eugene, Oregon, as well as many other FFT1 level classes and RT-130 Fireline Refreshers April-July 2026.

Wildland Fire Community Events
Wildland Firefighter Foundation is the best hub to find community events (most benefitting the WFF) such as races, fishing tournaments, golf scrambles, brewery fundraisers, etc as well as wildland firefighter trainings. Great way to find events, meet other wildland firefighters, AND contribute to a great cause.
